Im over here just wanting to cast car and gun parts lol. This stuff is incredible for lost PLA !!! Made a 68mm turbo housing using ESUN PLA on cad then used this stuff to make a negative mould. This is crazy ! Well worth the money !
How good is the detail and accuracy on the cast using lost PLA? That's my concern
Wha is the powder to water ratio?
The w/p ratio can change from investment to investment and depending upon casting size. Typical jewelry investments are used at 38-42/100. In this video, I believe the ratio is 39/100.
Is that zirconium opacifier slurry
Bikramjeet, no, it is a fused silica slurry. A zircon slurry would have a much higher density.
This might be a silly question but do you need to put this in a kiln afterward? Can you just bake it in an oven to get the wax out?
Sam, the mold will need to go into a kiln to fire it, which eliminates all of the organics and develops the strength for casting. If you have more questions, please feel free to email us at: technical@ransom-randolph.com. Thanks
Thankyou mr robot

@@RansomRandolph mr robot may i ask you for a stainless steel cast i first apply the zircon sand and then the fused silica ( and do it dip it again in the slurry after i apply the zircon sand) ?
The sequence is always: 1) Dip in slurry 2) Drain slurry well 3) Apply stucco (sand) 4) Dry 5) Repeat for each shell coat (except final seal coat where no stucco sand is applied) The stucco sequence is zircon (for the first 1 or 2 coats for steel) then fused silica.
@@RansomRandolph ty also whats the cheapest sand for stainless steel investment that i can buy from your website ?
Zircon is much more expensive than fused silica. I would first try using all fused silica stucco. • Ranco Sil A for the first few coats. • Ranco Sil B for the remaining shell coats. If you do not get an acceptable surface finish on the casting, then you could replace the Ranco-Sil A with zircon sand and see if this helps the surface.
Hi, What SuspendaSlurry materials would be advised for casting brass components. Need to be supplied to Thailand. Thanks!
Zac, we will have our Sales Manager contact you to discuss.
Should the slurry be stored in a low humidity environment?
Humidity control is not necessary for storage, but the humidity should be kept between 40-60% during shell building.
@@RansomRandolph so if the slurry dries out over time, one could simply add water and be able to use it again?
@@robinyilmaz1155 If the SuspendaSlurry has dried out, it is not salvageable. The material should be kept covered when not in use to prevent evaporation. When using the material, it is typical that some water will evaporate and must be replaced to maintain the viscosity.
@@RansomRandolph ah okay, but will it still dissolve/fall apart in water after drying, like investment plaster does?
@@robinyilmaz1155 No, this material will not dissolve or “quench” like an investment does in water after casting. This material will form a shell cavity that is broken away by a hammer or other mechanical means.
hi, from where i can buy the slurry in Saudi Arabia? send to me the contacts info by a replay or email best regards Waleed Alghamdi CEO of AEM. waleed@aem.sa
Waleed, our Sales Manager, Scott Todd, will contact you via email. Thank you, R&R
The temperature method works good to determine lack of moisture. Another one I heard was when shell quits loosing weight due to water evaporation, it's ready.... I give my first couple of layers 5-6hrs in an air conditioned space and following layers 2-3hrs with a fan. Humidity seems to play a big factor in how fast you can apply subsequent layers. (no shocker there!) I have no issues whatsoever, love suspendaslurry!
Yes, you can also monitor drying by measuring weight loss of the shell. The weight of the shell will drop as water is evaporated. Once the weight stabilizes, the shell should be dry. To maximize the drying conditions, we suggest a combination of low humidity and airflow at the same time, not one after the other. Our experience is airflow will have more of an affect on drying than humidity. We suggest you try drying your shell in your air conditioned area with the fans blowing on the shell at the same time.
@@RansomRandolph Good advice. I use a fan after my first 2 layers. 😉
Any way I can buy some in Germany?
